Naofa means sacred in Irish. It is about functional permaculture for landscapes and built spaces that nurture connection with all life, inspired by travels throughout Aotearoa and beyond. A desire to create environments rich in meaning, beauty and relationship with the earth that will be nurtured for generations to come is what Naofa is about.
I’m Sarah, the human behind Naofa. I grew up here in Aoteoroa, playing among native trees and tracking summers by the ripening of fruits. I studied design and fine arts, always painting trees and landscapes, and eventually began gardening about 15 years ago. Through various study and lots of trial and error, I began building gardens for preschool children, which I continue to do. I completed my PDC with Permakai in mid 2023 and am currently studying landscape design.
